Raida

Amaal's mother, who was 9 months pregnant and in labour, was taken to hospital by an ambulance amid a curfew imposed on Palestinians during the second Intifada (uprising). The ambulance was stopped at a checkpoint and held for an hour and a half before it was allowed to cross to the other side. Amaal's mother had managed to reach the hospital just in time to deliver her. Nevertheless, such delays imposed on medical staff and their vehicles can be damaging to both the baby's and the mother's health.
